Felton products pre-approved for building consents

We’re proud to share that a selection of Felton products are now recognised under the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) initiative for Approved Products Certified Overseas.

This new pathway allows certain overseas-certified building products to be deemed to comply with the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC) - a big step toward smoother and more consistent product assurance across the industry.

What is the “Approved Products Certified Overseas” Pathway?
MBIE has introduced a recognition process that acknowledges building products certified under approved overseas schemes such as Australia’s WaterMark certification as meeting the requirements of the NZ Building Code, when used as intended.

This means that many plumbing and sanitary products already tested and approved in Australia can now be used in New Zealand without needing further technical assessments.

From a practical point of view, it’s about reducing red tape, saving time, and building greater confidence in the products used across the industry.

What It Means
Felton products are certified under the Australian WaterMark scheme. These are now recognised by MBIE as deemed-to-comply products under the new pathway.

For merchants, specifiers, and plumbers this means:
- Simplified consent process - recognised products reduce approval delays.
- Confidence in compliance - backed by MBIE’s recognition notices.
- Assurance of quality - Felton products continue to meet or exceed NZ standards.
- Future-ready supply - Felton remains committed to evolving with NZ’s building regulations.

A Step Forward for the Industry
The new recognition framework represents a positive shift for the construction and plumbing sectors. It supports faster adoption of proven, high-quality products and fosters greater consistency between the New Zealand and Australian markets.

At Felton, we’ve always been focused on product innovation, reliability, and compliance — and this recognition reinforces that commitment.
